I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

On the campaign trail, the grassroots level surge continues to get stronger as the days go by. The reason for this is simple, YOU, the citizens of the 5th District.

To those who have contributed your time, ideas or funds I want to thank you so much. To those who are new to the campaign — I NEED YOUR HELP. This campaign is about you, the voters and citizens of the 5th District. You are vital to making your voice heard in Washington.

We will soon be sending out e-mail updates about the campaign itself and upcoming events. These will help you to keep up to date in the campaign and get engaged. On Wednesday, I announced my candidacy for Congress. It was great to be surrounded by friends and family. When I walked into what was my 3rd grade classroom, on the blackboard the teacher had written the next day’s quote. It read, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started.”

I knew Bryant was the place I wanted to announce from. It was the place I had spent my elementary school days. But Bryant Elementary had one more gift for me, that wonderful quote on the blackboard.

Wednesday was a windy day, sunny and bright. Perhaps the winds of change have begun to blow in the fifth district. I sure think they have.
